Let’s Get Married
Wedding restrictions on Oahu are nearly over, and weddings are coming back to pre-pandemic levels. With that, we've been getting a lot of couples eagerly hoping to get their marriage licenses as soon as possible. Before rushing out to check it off your wedding list, read the steps below, and always let us know if we can help!
HOW TO LEGALLY GET MARRIED IN HAWAII (as of 4.1.2022)
Apply for a marriage license online, anytime, and pay the $65 fee. This online form is just the application form, and not the actual marriage license.
Within 30 days of the wedding, the couple must appear together, in person before a marriage license agent.
Most couples will go to the Department of Health, Room 101, to apply for their license on weekdays 8am-4pm.
At this appointment, the marriage license agent issues the marriage license, to give to the officiant.
This can't be done any earlier than 30 days, and the couple MUST both be present. (The marriage license expires in 30 days after issued).
GET MARRIED!!
FYI, the ceremony must be performed physically in the State of Hawaii by an officiant who is registered to perform weddings in the State of Hawaii.
The officiant is encouraged to file the marriage electronically within 3 days, in order for the couple to print a temporary marriage certificate.
The official marriage certificate will be mailed within 1-2 months.
