Choosing a HoliDATE

I hope you’re enjoying a long weekend, or at least enjoying one less day of traffic if you’re driving to work. With today being President’s Day, let's take a minute to talk about the benefits (and downsides) of having your wedding on a holiday.

  • BENEFIT: A long weekend means more time to party with your guests (hello, 3 day extravaganza)!

  • DOWNSIDE: Airfare and hotel prices tend to be more expensive around holidays, so do some price shopping before setting your date.

  • BENEFIT: Out of town guests will need to take less vacation to travel to Hawaii.

  • DOWNSIDE: Depending on the holiday you want to get married on (or around), your guests may have other plans. For example, getting married on the day after Thanksgiving seems like a good plan, since a lot of people have a long weekend, but a lot of your friends might choose to spend Thanksgiving with their families, vs flying to Hawaii for your wedding.

  • BENEFIT: Getting married on a holiday can make your wedding date even more special! Valentine's Day is all about love, right? Or imagine celebrating your wedding with fireworks on the 4th of July.

All in all, your wedding day is really what you choose to make it. Picking a holiday wedding date is definitely a tempting option, but do your homework before you say "I DO" to the date! Let us know if you'd like to chat about wedding date options... we'd love to help!
