Late Night Snacks
Let's be honest. Is there anything better than drinking, dancing, then being treated to a late night snack? I didn't think so. Late night snacks have become a huge trend at weddings, and I think they're here to stay. Keep reading to hear my thoughts on how to create the perfect late night snack experience.
INDOOR VS OUTDOOR
When thinking about your late night snack, your venue matters! Most indoor venues, like hotels, can accommodate your requests, as long as it's something they can make in-house. French fries? Sliders? Mini-muffins? Most likely, yes! Check with your venue to see what you can offer your guest.
At an outdoor venue where you're bringing in your own caterer, the sky's the limit BUT keep in mind you're bringing in everything on your own. French fries? Sure, but we'll likely need to rent a tent, fryer, table, linen, lighting, etc to make it happen. Keep in mind the logistics behind bringing in your late night treats. It's totally doable with proper planning.
SWEET VS SAVORY
Ah, the ultimate question. After hours of dancing and drinking, do you want to eat something sweet or savory? This is totally preference, but in my experience, most guests will gravitate to something savory, like sliders, French fries, spam musubis, or garlic chicken!
That's not saying that guests don't go crazy over a hot donut or malasada, a shave ice station or boba bar. They're all good - just keep in mind what your guests will prefer. As I mention in our podcast, know your audience. :)
WHEN SHOULD WE OFFER THE GOODIES?
There's a perfect window of time to offer late night snacks right after the formal program ends, and about an hour or so before the wedding ends... or as I like to say, "snack" dab in the middle of dancing!!
You want to give guests time to have their dinners settle, get some drinks and start dancing, and then allow the smell of fried foods or sweet treats start wafting in the air. On the other end, you don't want to wait too long and guests start to leave. We can help you find that perfect time to serve your snacks!
DON'T FORGET THE GOODBYE!
Late night snacks are always the right thing to do, but don't forget about departure snacks (different from a late night snack). Departure snacks are perfect treats to take when your guests leave - bottled water, spam musubis, and chips are easy examples of thoughtful and fun departure snacks.
