After the I DO

Happy September!

Today, I want to talk to you about the post-ceremony celebration. Once the couple kisses and says I DO, then what? Traditionally, people used to toss rice as a sign of fertility and prosperity. In modern days, couples are getting creative with the celebratory toss at the end, including confetti, petals, bubbles, dehydrated flowers, a butterfly release and so much more. Take a look at some of the amazing outcomes below:

BUBBLES: My personal favorite is bubbles! They're gorgeous in pictures, and cleanup is a breeze. If you have kids at your wedding, hand them a bubble gun for a major win-win.

FLOWER PETALS: Easily the most common item to toss, couples will ask guests to toss petals (normally rose petals) as they exit back down the aisle. A couple factors to consider when deciding whether or not to do a petal toss: (1) Someone needs to clean it up, and the cleanup often comes with a fee. Determine whether it's your florist, the venue, wedding planner or a friend BEFORE your wedding day. (2) Some venues only allow REAL petals, and some venues only allow FAKE petals. Check with your venue before your wedding day to confirm what's allowed.

CONFETTI: OMG - a VERY, VERY cool idea but fair warning - this is not allowed in most venues. Before planning a confetti send off, confirm with your venue if it is allowed.

Whatever you decide to use, just keep in mind the post-celebration cleanup. If you're not at a venue that offers cleanup services (like on a public beach), please make sure you clean up before you leave - all petals, confetti - nature or not - whatever you bring, you should clean up and remove. We'd love to hear all about your post-wedding plans.
