Tossing Tradition: Your Wedding, Your Rules!
Checking off your wedding to-do list can be a real feat, and adding the extra pressure of honoring wedding traditions that come along with the occasion can be overwhelming!
To help you out, I’ve created a list of "wedding rules" couples can choose to keep or ditch. After all, some rules are made to be broken, right?
Wearing a White Dress
Yep, it’s totally okay to skip wearing a white dress on your big day! It isn't an ironclad rule—there are plenty of other options that allow you to express your own personality without straying too far from the wedding theme.
Having a Gendered and Even Number of Bridesmaids and Groomsmen
While wedding parties hold a lot of meaning, not everyone has the same number or even the same gender of special people in their circle of friends. Don't feel pressure to ask anyone to be in your wedding party just to even out the numbers. And if you’re simply not interested in having one, it’s perfectly fine to ditch it completely.
Wedding Parties Should Have Matching Dresses
Breaking this classic wedding rule is way more fun than following it! Why not let them choose whatever dress they want in a color palette of your choice instead?
Feeding Cake to Each Other on Your Wedding Day
Ok, I'm not going to lie. I'm a DIE HARD cake fan, so this is a keeper. Always. :)
Let’s face it—at the end of the day, it’s your wedding. Do what makes you happy. Honestly, isn’t that the most important thing? Let’s talk, what other wedding traditions are you planning to do away with?
