Are You Feeling It?

Music is such a huge part of any event - especially a wedding. It creates your wedding vibe, and sets the tone for the entire day. Are you sticking to classical music played by a string quartet? Are you opting for an ukulele player to keep things light and Hawaiian? Do you prefer a DJ to dance the night way? Whatever you decide, keep in mind the key moments of your wedding day that music could really elevate!

  • Getting ready in the morning. PRO TIP: Create a play list to play in your hotel room when you're getting ready. Calming music, hype music, 90s rap... whatever you choose, we are strong believers that music will keep the day light and fun for you, your wedding party, and anyone else in your room!

  • Ceremony: Live music or DJ? Totally up to you, but there are 3 main songs you'll need to select: the processional song for your wedding party, your processional song, and the recessional song. Classic or contemporary, harp or DJ, the choice is yours! Some venues require live music only, so double check with your venue before booking anything.

  • Cocktail Hour: Couples will often choose to extend their ceremony musician into cocktail hour. For example, if you have a guitar player for ceremony, you can add another hour for cocktail hour. Something to keep in mind when choosing this option is the location of your ceremony and cocktail hour - if they're not right next to each other, you might have a period without music to allow your musician to move.

  • Reception: From your grand entrance, through dinner, and the rest of your formal program, having music is key to keep the program flowing. There a number of song you'll need to select, but don't worry! Work with your DJ or band to find songs that make sense for you. If you love country music (like I do), don't be afraid to choose country music for your first dance! FUN FACT: My wedding song was "Amazed" by Lonestar. :)

  • Open Dancing: A good DJ or band during the open dancing is crucial, because they can easily react to your crowd, and keep everyone on the dance floor all night long. This is a MAJOR SKILL, and this is why it's so important to have a skilled DJ or band.

  • Surprises: We've done a few weddings that introduce surprise bands at the end of the night and WE LOVE IT! Imagine the program ending and suddenly you hear music coming from another room... curtains pull open and there's a live band to end the night! AMAZING! We've done this with DJs as well. Whatever you decide, keep it fun at keep it true to your wedding style.
